THATTA, Aug 29: The Thatta district council on Tuesday adopted a resolution demanding probe into use of substandard material in construction of the Thatta-Sujawal road.

A council meeting convened by Iqbal Ahmed Khan Chandio expressed grave concern over the ill-planning of the construction.

Belo Union Council Nazim Syed Manzoor Hussain, who tabled the resolution, told the council that the dismantling of the 304-kilometre road in one go by the construction company, violation of rules and use of substandard material in the project costing Rs800 million was rendering great financial loss to the national exchequer, besides inconvenience to daily commuters.

The council also condemned the cancellation of quota of administration for rural students and demanded restoration. It also demanded restoration of district quota in the police department.
