KARACHI, Aug 29: Thirty-three supporters of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti were granted bail on Tuesday by a judicial magistrate. They were arrested on Monday for violence during protest against the killing of their leader in parts of the city.
JM Naheed Jabbar gave them bail in the sum of Rs25,000 each and ordered their immediate release in case they were not wanted in any other case.
The protesters were booked under Sections 353, 147, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code by the Eidgah and Kalakot police. They included Hafeez, Murtaza, Saddam, Habib, Zohaib, Ramzan, Asif, Qadir, Shah Nawaz, Mohammed Zamir, Ali Gul, Gul Zaman, Ali Amjad, Zubair, Ameen, Muslim, Ismail, Mohammed Ameen, Liaquat, Nawaz Ali, Waqar Mohammed, Yasir Ali, Ahmed Kaka, Saleem, Farooq, Haneef, Jameel, Mehnaz Ali and Shoaib.
Meanwhile, judicial magistrate Mohammed Asif remanded five supporters of the late Baloch leader in police custody for interrogation. Suspects Kamran, Murji, Abid, Wanoon and Rahil were also arrested for violent activities during protest in Kalakot. The magistrate ordered the police to produce the suspects before the court on Sept 1.
Another judicial magistrate remanded eight juvenile protesters to the judicial custody till Sept 11. Arrested by the Baghdadi police on Monday, the teenagers included Mohammed Hanif, Ali Ahmed, Mohammed Aslam and Mohabbat Ali.
