KARACHI: PPP slams govt attitude towards mourners

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 29: Parliamentarians of the Pakistan People’s Party have strongly condemned the treatment extended to mourners and protesters in the aftermath of killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti in different places of Karachi and interior of Sindh.

In a joint press statement, Aijaz Jakhrani, Nabeel Ahmed Gabol, Sher Mohammad Baloch, Rafiq Engineer, Akhtar Jadoon, and Saleem Hingoro said even the congregations of ghaibana namaz-e-Janaza of Nawab Akbar Bugti were baton-charged and tear-gassed.

In Malir, several PPP leaders and members from other political parties fell unconscious following police shelling, they said.

The PPP leaders said more than 1000 people have been pushed into torture cells in Karachi only whereas thousands more have been picked up from all over the province during last two days.

They further alleged that male police officials dragged dozens of Baloch and Sindhi women from hair even from their homes and bundled into police mobiles in a shameful way, which would never be tolerated.

The Party Parliamentarians said that Governor and Sindh Chief Minister and their allies were instigating the police and other personnel to go on the rampage against the people.
