10 killed, 30 injured in accident

By Shamim Shamsi

SUKKUR, Aug 28: Ten people were killed and 30 others injured when a bus collided with a trawler near the Kandhkot bypass on Monday night. The bus was going to Karachi from Peshawar. It collided with the trawler when it tried to overtake a truck.

The bus also got hit by a truck from behind, which caused it to fall into a ditch.

Bodies of passengers and injured people were brought to the Kandhkot Civil Hospital.

Only three bodies, one of a woman, have so far been identified — Bano Begum, bus driver Samiullah and trawler driver Sher Zada.

Three bodies were still entangled in the trawler’s remains and efforts were under way to pull them out by cutting the trawler.

Doctors said that all the dead belonged to the NWFP.

They said that 10 of the injured were in serious condition.

The injured were identified as Shakila, Arifa, Hidayatullah, Imran, Inayatullah, Shafi Mohammad, Sangam, Jehanzeb, Shahid, Gul Khan, Saddam Hussain, Afzal and Mohammad Ramzan.
