KARACHI: APC declares killing of Bugti state terrorism

KARACHI, Aug 28: Leaders at an all-party conference held here on Tuesday condemned the gruesome murder of Jamhoori Watan Party Nawab Akbar and termed it an act of naked state terrorism.
Paying tributes to the Baloch nationalist leader, they said the slain leader was a great political personality who laid down his life while fighting for the rights of Baloch people.
They slated the rulers for eliminating such a great leader because of his commitment to the cause of Baloch people saying that his sacrifices would always be remembered by the people.
They said the way the people of Pakistan reacted over the ghastly act of murder showed that the veteran Baloch leader was respected by all sections of the people.
The conference was organized by National Workers Party and it was presided over by senior politician Mairaj Mohammad Khan.
It was attended by leaders of Communist Party, Inqilabi Jamhoori Workers Party, Labour Party, Mutthida Mazdoor Mahaz, Jamhoori Watan Party, National Party Awami Tehrik , besides National Workers Party.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Yusuf Mustikhan, Usman Baloch, Akhtar Husain, Taj Marri, Khadim Fahim, Nasir Mansoor, Sher Mohammad Baloch, Ghulam Nabi, Alim Shar, Mushtaq Rajpar.
The conference decided to hold Ghaibana namaz Janaza of the slain Baloch leader on Wednesday at 4pm in front of Karachi Press Club.
The conference also endorsed the Aug 31 strike call of Sindhi nationalist parties being observed against the killing of Nawab Bugti in Sindh.
Pakistan People’s Party Central Information Sherry Rehman condemned the killing of Jamhoori Watan Party’s chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and described it a great tragedy.
She said such action would always create a sense of alienation among people and promote radical ideas.
In a statement, she said the tragic incident would not have happened, had the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee adopted and implemented.
The PPP leader regretted to say that the government instead of adopting the course of dialogue was bent upon using the force which ultimately led to the present tragedy which could have been averted.
The PPP leader said the Balochistan issue could only be solved through dialogue not by force which would further complicate it.
She said the PPP would completely support the struggle of Baloch people for their rights.
In a joint statement issued here, President of PPP Karachi division Rashid Rabbani , General Secretary MPA Rafiq Engineer and Secretary Information Saeed Ghani condemned the killing of senior Baloch politician Nawab Akbar Bugti and termed it an act of state terrorism.
The PPP leaders regretted that military rulers had not learnt any lesson from the fall of Dhaka, saying the Baloch people now hated Pakistan army in the way it did with the people of former east Pakistan who considered it as their enemy.
They urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the actions of rulers being detrimental to the integrity of the country.
The leaders of National Christian Party, including Shabir Shafqatm Victor Bashir, Javaid Iqbal, Arshad Ismail,
Arif Sardar, Kamran Yunis and Nabail Jamshed, have condemned the killing of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, the chief of Jamhoori Watan Party.
