KARACHI: Reopening slammed

KARACHI, Aug 28: Former town nazims belonging to Al-Khidmat group on Monday condemned the re-inauguration of Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases by City Nazim Mustafa Kamal saying that the hospital was established and inaugurated by the former city nazim, Niamatullah Khan, in his tenure.

“Over 30,000 patients have been treated at the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, including 800 angiographies, 130 coronary angioplasties and 1,210 ETT so far,” they said in a joint statement adding that citizens had thanked Niamatullah Khan for establishment of the KIHD to provide them quality healthcare facilities near to their residences.

They said that citizens and media know very well that the KIHD had started functioning soon after its inauguration from June 3, 2005 and added that it was also on record that furniture, medical equipment was provided and the KIHD building was renovated in the tenure of Niamatullah Khan.—PPI
