Karzai orders probe

KABUL, Aug 27: One of seven suspected Al Qaeda facilitators killed by troops was a key operative who helped move Arab fighters into Afghanistan, the US-led coalition said on Sunday.

The seven were killed in Kunar on Thursday in a shootout in a village during which a child was killed and a woman wounded.

President Hamid Karzai has ordered an investigation into claims that the men were merely tribal elders.—AFP
