KARACHI, Aug 27: Making a giant stride, five-year-old chestnut Yes Neighbour Yes came from behind to beat three-year-old colt Moon Raker by half a length to claim Phar Lap Stakes 2006 in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Trained by Sher Mohammad he was piloted home by Mohammad Essa in the seven-furlong race to register second win on trot. The race also served as a feature event. Finishing seven lengths behind was The King Of Arab and further two lengths away was Fantasia.

Earlier, Essa galloped five-year-old chestnut Dil Phaink to second victory in a row to justify his top billing and complete a double.

Installed as favourite, Dil Phaink posted a facile five lengths victory over Silent Angel. The running of mare Countess Mah Again, which had to be content with fourth slot left much to be desired.

Three-year-old chestnut filly Maid’s Causeway with no form to back, created quite a stir when she won like a champion in a time of one minute four seconds.

She beat Mera Jugnoo by six lengths. Filly Miss Milee finished third while Forget Me Not completed the frame.

In a closely-fought battle, chestnut Sindh Malook got the better of bay colt The Concord by three-quarter-of-a-length.

Also stretching her winning run was bay mare Fizza who beat favourite Silver City by three-and-a-half lengths. The rider of Silver City, Ali Ehsan, was penalised and sent to riding school for two months.

Second favourite nine-year-old bay horse, Yanga, made amends by landing the opener after King Of The Field was not allowed to run on merit. He beat Lucky Five by four lengths.

Three-year-old bay colt, Captain Black, interrupted the winning run of fancied The Conqueror’s by three-and-a-half lengths.

Three-year-old chestnut filly, Swift Arrival, also romped home beating favourite Canon Ball by one-quarter-of-a-length. Rider of Canon Ball S. Khan was penalised Rs5,000 for ‘unsatisfactory’ riding.

According to a KRC announcement, the next gymkhana race meeting will be held on Thursday.
