SUKKUR, Aug 27: The Frontier Constabulary and Rangers personnel have been put on high alert and areas connecting Sindh with Balochistan and Punjab were sealed by law-enforcement agencies on Saturday night in the aftermath of killing of Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Strict security measures have been adopted to check any untoward incident.

The entire border belt from Jacobabad to Thull was sealed by deployment of FC and Rangers personnel.

A thin vehicular traffic was noticed on the roads of Sukkur, Rohri, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Thull, Tangwani, Buxapur and Karampur.

Shopping areas wore a deserted look with people preferring to remain in their homes.

Rangers and FC personnel were also deployed at important installations including the Guddu barrage, Sukkur barrage, Lanse Down bridge, gas pipelines and other vital installations.

On the other hand, heavy contingents of Rangers were put on high alert at Dera More, two kilometres from Kashmore and the road leading to Dera Ghazi Khan and Koh-i-Suleman in Balochistan and no vehicular traffic was allowed beyond the point.

FC men and Rangers also patrolled the towns and villages, situated on the border areas and interior of Sindh including, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Thull and Kandhkot.

According to railway control, Sukkur, trains from Punjab and Sindh going towards Quetta were stopped at Sibi at the midnight of Saturday and were not allowed to proceed to Quetta.

The railways sources said that all the trains were sent back from Sibi. The affected trains included Khushaal Khan Khattak Express, Chiltan Express, Jaffer Khan Jamali Express, Balochistan Night Coach, Bolan Mail and Zarghoon Express.

Bus and coach services between Balochistan and Sindh and Punjab have also been suspended.
