10 tribesmen released

MIRAMSHAH, Aug 26: The government on Saturday freed 10 tribesmen accused of attacking its troops near the Afghan border, in exchange for assurances that pro-Taliban militants will extend a ceasefire in the tribal region, an official said.

The suspects, who were among dozens of alleged militants captured in the past year in North Waziristan, were released “as a gesture of goodwill,” said Iqbal Khattak, a deputy administrator in the region.
