KARACHI: 37 vehicles, 39 cellphones taken away

KARACHI, Aug 26: As many as 76 people were deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in various localities here on Saturday. Police sources said that 37 vehicles, including 16 cars and 21 motorcycles, and 39 mobile phones were either snatched at gunpoint or stolen in different areas. Two cars and six motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and 14 cars were and 15 motorcycles were stolen.

Twenty-two people reported that their cellphones were snatched at gunpoint and 17 others complained that their mobile phones were stolen.

KILLED: Two men were gunned down by a masked man in Hyderi on Saturday.

Police said that a masked man armed with a semi-automatic weapon entered a restaurant in Block-H. He opened fire at the restaurant’s owner, Rizwan, and fled. One of the waiters of the restaurant, Zia Khan, also received multiple bullets in the firing. Both the victims were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Police believed that the killing could have been an outcome of personal enmity.
