PESHAWAR: Two underpasses approved

PESHAWAR, Aug 26: The City District Government has approved the construction of two pedestrian underpasses on University Road to avoid growing traffic congestion on the main University-Jamrud Road.

The project was approved during a meeting presided over by district nazim Haji Ghulam Ali here on Friday.

The underpasses would be constructed near Tehkal Payan and Board Office on the University road. The executing agency has been directed to start work on the two projects within a week so that it could be completed according to schedule.

The underpass would facilitate students of educational institutions situated on University Road to have safe passage for crossing the main congested road besides ensuring smooth sailing of the traffic on the Jamrud Road.

The district naizm thanked the NWFP chief minister for the financial assistance for ongoing development projects in the city.

The district nazim praised the Federal Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam for helping in getting approval of schemes and said that work on construction of 200 tubewells under the presiden’s package would start soon. —APP
