KARACHI: Makhdoom condemns dismissal of 112 teachers

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 26: The vice-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, condemning the brutal treatment of teachers and dismissal of 112 teachers by the Sindh government, demanded their reinstatement and an end to their victimisation.

In a press statement issued from the media cell at Bilawal House on Saturday, the ARD chairman said that the profession of teaching was highly respected in any civilised society but in our case the regime was targeting the teachers as if it was dealing with criminals.

It may be recalled that in Karachi, a teachers rally was brutally baton-charged and tear gassed last week where dozens of protesting teachers were arrested and bundled into police lock-ups in a shameful manner.

The PPP leader said that the Sindh government should offer apology to the teachers and release all those arrested besides reinstating all the dismissed teachers without any delay.

Makhdoom expressed solidarity with the protesting teachers on behalf of the PPP and added that his party would extend all possible help to the teachers for the achievement of their genuine demands.
