KARACHI, Aug 26: The last date for the acceptance of placement forms pertaining to Class XI admissions to city colleges has once again been extended. Now candidates can submit the forms at the designated bank branches till August 31.
According to a notification of the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) committee issued on Saturday, the date has been extended on the requests of parents, students and in consultation with the authorities of the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi.
It was learnt that a good number of applicants were still not in the possession of the SSC annual examination marks sheets due to slackness on the part of schools. A number of cases pertaining to revised marks sheet, re-totaling of marks and scrutiny and rectification are also in pending at the educational board as well, said an official concerned.
The admission committee had projected a figure of about 105,000 candidates, including 96,000 those who passed SSC examination from BSE Karachi this year. However, 83,000 admission forms and prospectus were sold by banks till August 26, which was the last date for sale and acceptance of admission forms.
About 57,000 forms duly filled were received from students till August 25, while another 15,000 to 20,000 were expected to be received from applicants at banks on August 26. The total number of application received from students by August 26 can be calculated as 72,000-75,000, said a source privy to admission committee.
A previous member of the admission committee said that the difference between the projected number of eligible candidates and applications received from students at the banks gave to understand that still there were a good number of students who were not able to submit their admission forms for one reason or another. —Staff Reporter
