ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: National Volunteers Movement (NVM) Deputy Chairman Mohammad Ali Saif said the NVM had trained around 1,000 volunteers up till now and was determined to train more so that they could prove helpful in the hour of need.

He said this in the certificate distribution ceremony of a two-day mountain rescue training programme conducted in collaboration with the Alpine Club of Pakistan on the Margalla Hills near Saidpur village.

The participants were trained in basic skills to evacuate people from cliffs and dangerous slopes. They were also trained in improvised method of evacuation.

Mr Saif appreciated the young volunteers who willingly took part in this training programme, and invited the youth of Pakistan to come forward and serve their country through NVM’s platform.

NVM has conducted workshops and training programmes on trauma counselling, first aid, fire fighting and environment related issues.

It has also designed an extensive training programme for the volunteers which will start soon. This programme will be conducted in all the provinces of the country.
