KASUR, Aug 25: The ring leader of a notorious gang was killed in the firing of his accomplices during an encounter with the police on the Jaggowala Road in Pattoki police station precinct on Friday night.

According to DPO Syed Ahmad Mobeen, the police received information that a robbers’ gang was looting cash and valuables from passersby on the Jaggowala Road near Burg Mahalam village. He said a team, headed by Pattoki DSP Yahya Hassan Virk and city police station SHO Abdul Aziz, reached the spot.

Ring leader Yasir and his five accomplices opened fire on the police party which retaliated. Yasir suffered injuries in the firing of colleagues, he said, and all other robbers escaped. The injured robber died in hospital.
