Balochistan to set up technical training centres in all districts


QUETTA, Aug 25: Balochistan Minister for Labour and Manpower Maulana Faiz Mohammad has said that the government will set up technical and vocational training centres in all districts of the province.

Replying to a supplementary question by the opposition MPA, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, during question hour of the provincial Assembly on Friday with Deputy Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhutani in the chair, the minister said, the people should take interest in getting technical education as it contributes to socio-economic development.

He said at present 13 technical centres are functioning in various districts of the province manned by 230 teachers and 420 other staff.

The minister assured the opposition members that a meeting would be held to discuss important matters of technical and vocational training centres and resolve grievances of the opposition members.

Replying to another question put up by the opposition MPA, Jan Mohammad Buledi, about welfare of workers he said that the federal government has allocated Rs320.245 million for welfare of workers under which four hospitals and four high schools will be constructed at Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Dalbandin and Nokkundi, besides, 74 barracks will also be built for coalminers.

Replying to another question he said the government is providing health and education facilities to coalminers. In this regard various hospitals and boys and girls schools have been established in coalmine areas.

A hospital at Harnai will be functional soon he said, adding that the coalmine owners should also cooperate with the government in this regard.

Replying to a query by opposition leader Kachkol Ali about transforming of fishermen colony into labour colony in Gwadar, he said that the Balochistan Workers Welfare Board governing body objected to the project, as fishermen are not registered workers.

Earlier, Balochistan minister for parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Jamali while answering a question rose by the opposition member Sardar Azam Musakhel, said that the government had spent more than Rs5.5 million on Musakhel jungle from January 2005 to June 2005.

He said that executive district officer (Forest) has been appointed in Musakhel to look after the jungle. The EDO is responsible to take strict action against the violators of Forest Act. Besides, a scheme is also in progress for development of forestry in the district.

The scheme was launched during the financial year 2003-04 and will be completed by 2009. 1000 acre would be forested under the project, 300 acre has already been forested and 300 acre will be completed by the end of the current year.

The chair deferred three questions regarding Mines and Minerals Department due to absence of the minister concerned.—APP
