KARACHI, Aug 25: Once considered the most secure premises, the offices of the Lyari Task Force have been repeatedly raided for the past three nights by sleuths of different intelligence agencies taking away various documents.
The latest raid was carried out by a police party on late Thursday night, confiscating Roznamcha and other documents from the offices, a senior police official told Dawn.
Six policemen posted for security duty at the LTF offices were also taken into custody, the official said. Besides, arms and ammunition stored there was also seized by the police during the raid, he added.
“The raid was conducted in connection with the ongoing investigation of the Rasool Bukhsh Brohi murder case. Brohi was killed in a fake encounter case in Gadap police limits in July,” the police official said.
However, earlier raids conducted by the operatives of the intelligence agencies were aimed at finding clues in connection with the Rehman Dakait’s recent escape from police custody, he added.
It is pertinent to mention that Rehman was kept at the LTF’s Garden police line office for a considerable time when intelligence agencies handed over him to police.
A bullet-proof Mercedes, which was occasionally used by SP Aslam Khan, was also taken into possession by police. SP Khan had obtained the bullet-proof car following an attack on him in Punjab Colony DHA in which two of his close associates were killed.
