Two children killed in wall collapse

TANK, Aug 24: Two children were killed and another received serious injuries when blocks of a watercourse fell on them in the Karhiwam area of Tank on Thursday. Eye-witnesses said that the three children were trying to pull out iron bars used in construction of the watercourse when concrete mass fell on them.

The deceased were identified as Fareedullah and Bilal. Nouman, who received injuries, was rushed to hospital.

RAIN LOSSES: About 724 houses collapsed during the recent rains and high flood in different canals and watercourses in Tank District.

DCO Tank Syed Mohsin Shah told Dawn that 247 houses collapsed in Peer Kach and Garah Baloch areas, 111 in Waroki village, 196 in Malarzai village and 170 in Shah Alam village. A number of houses were damaged, he added. He said the provincial relief commissioner had provided tents and edibles to the affected families.
