Tribesmen surrender arms

GHALANI (Mohmand Agency), Aug 24: Tribesmen handed over heavy arms and ammunition to the political authorities in Ghalani, the agency headquarters on Thursday. Officials said that Safi Masood tribesmen led by Haji Subaidar Khan surrendered their arms, including four anti-aircraft guns, two mortar guns and a rocket launcher, to the political agent, Dr Jamal Nasir.

The Safi Masood tribe had already banned the display of arms in Lakaro tehsil of the agency.

The tribesmen assured that they were ready to end the weapon culture and would cooperate with the authorities concerned to maintain peace in the area.

They urged the administration to resolve the inter-tribal dispute.
