KARACHI: Young man shot dead by bandits

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 24: A young man who was chasing bandits was shot dead in Baloch Colony on late Wednesday night.

Police said some armed men came at a PCO in the limits of the Baloch Colony police station and deprived the cashier and the customers of their cash and cellphones.

As the suspects ran off with the booty, a young man, Iqbal Mustafa, said to be a close friend of the PCO owner, started chasing them.

The suspects fired gunshots at Iqbal and disappeared in the dark, police said, adding that the victim died before he could be taken to the Jinnah Hospital.

Following the incident, police shifted the body to the Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities.

ARRESTED: Police on Wednesday arrested a three- member gang involved in selling real estate by making fake property documents.

The SHO of North Nazimabad said that his team had arrested two estate agents, Rehman and Aftab, and an oath commissioner who used to pose himself as a city government official.

They used to select a vacant plot or house and prepared its fake documents to dispose it of, the SHO said.

Citing the case of a complainant, the SHO said the three suspects disposed of a property belonging to two brothers, Imtiaz and Anis, in North Karachi.

The two brothers have given a power of attorney of Mr Bashir who has become the complainant in the case, police said.

Police have seized documents of several properties from the accused and 67 stamps of the registrar office.

An FIR (348/06) under sections 471, 467, 402, 474, 468 and 472 was registered against the three at the North Nazimabad police station on the complaint of Bashir.
