KASUR, Aug 23: The district police have registered a case against a union council naib nazim and his accomplices for beating up a farmer and threatening him with dire consequences at Lohrt Jhugian village on Tuesday evening.

Reports said Mukhtiar Ali, a farmer, owned a few acres at the village through which UC naib nazim M. Rafique wanted to make a pavement. The farmer refused to give his land for the paved passage after which the naib nazim, along with his 34 accomplices, went to the farm and clubbed the farmer. The farmer was hospitalised.

The police have registered a case against the assailants.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against a man for giving a bogus cheque of Rs1 million to the seller of a plot.
