UK to enhance trade

KARACHI, Aug 23: Pakistan’s economy is expanding and the fact is acknowledged by the increasing trade relations between the United Kingdom and Islamabad, said Hamish St. Clair Daniel, British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi on Wednesday.

Speaking at an interactive session with the members of Site Association of Industry at the association office, he said investment by the British businessmen and companies in Pakistan had increased during the previous two years.

The number of trade delegations from the UK increased tremendously exhibiting their confidence in Pakistan’s business environment.

“I have seen the London Stock Exchange people in Islamabad recently, many more people would be coming from Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester besides, a telecom mission,” he informed the Site members.

The British diplomat said that the balance of trade was in favour of Pakistan and trade between both the countries was about $1bn. The trade volume would further increase, he said.

Referring to the growing ties with Pakistan he said that the people from Britain would have better knowledge of business environment in the country.—APP
