Action in cricket fiasco sought

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: Senate standing committee on sports, culture and youth affairs member Senator Enver Baig has asked the government to act firmly and decisively in the cricket fiasco.

“We are at a critical point in the nations cricket future and if matters are not handled firmly and decisively we are facing a disaster,” he said.

The Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians senator, in a statement issued here on Tuesday, said the most important contributing factor has been the inability of the chairman to protect the Pakistani team from a biased Australian umpire and the officials controlling the ICC from the very beginning.

“While others have made the ICC to listen to their views, our board has been following the policy of ingratiating officials of the ICC and English boards by inviting them for free trips to Pakistan,” he said adding that this policy has failed.— Our Reporter
