SIALKOT, Aug 22: Four people were shot dead and two others injured in a clash between two rival groups in Kaaleyki-Phalora, Pasrur tehsil, here on Tuesday. There had been an old political enmity between the Patwari and Ansari groups. On Tuesday, some men of the Ansari group went to the Haveli of the Patwari group for reconciliation. Suddenly, both sides became infuriated over some issue, and the Patwari group opened fire killing four men of the rivals and injuring two others.
Those killed include Kashif Rahmat Ali, Younas Bashir and Safdar Ali. The injured were taken to the Pasrur THQ civil hospital where their condition was stated to be critical. The accused fled while firing in the air.
Later, villagers protested against the incident and demanded early arrest of the accused.
PROTEST: The heirs of a police torture victim held a protest demonstration in Ikhlaspur, Shakargarh, on Tuesday.
Bashir, 40, was killed due to police torture in the district jail some two days ago.
The protesters chanted slogans against the police and urged the chief minister, the IG police and the Gujranwala range additional IG to order an inquiry against the Kot Nainaan police for torturing the youth to death.
The Kot Nainaan police arrested Bashir from his house on Aug 5 and tortured him at the police station. Later, they shifted him to the district jail where he succumbed to his injuries some two days ago.
The family said police had implicated the youth in narcotics case.
