KARACHI, Aug 22: The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on Tuesday condemned the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal legislators for tearing to pieces the copies of a proposed amendment to law in the Parliament.

In a statement issued from London, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the way MMA members behaved, they indulged in blasphemy as the bill containing Quranic verses, name of Allah, sanctity of prophethood, and Islamic republic of Pakistan, sought amendments to the protection of women’s rights.

He said that these horrendous acts of the MMA leaders only proved that these elements were enemies of Islam and Pakistan while they always traded the religion to serve their vested interest.

He said that the MQM was organizing a rally, to protest against the blasphemous acts of the MMA legislators, at Regal Chowk on Thursday (Aug 24) afternoon and hoped that the people who share his views and condemn the acts of the MMA leaders would show their love and respect to Islam and the country.
