SAHIWAL, Aug 21: The irrigation department and villagers plugged a 15 feet wide breach which occurred in 9-L distributory on Monday morning near Chak 87/9-L.

Reports said the breach took place in the right bank of the distributory between RDs 08-09 due to the water overflow and soon developed into 15 feet wide, inundating standing crops on 100 acres.

Villagers and the irrigation department plugged the breach after two-hour struggle.

The Lower Bari Doab Canal (LBDC) circle superintending engineer has ordered an inquiry in this regard.
