LAHORE, Aug 18: Punjab golf team has qualified for the finals of the World amateur golf championship after winning the pre-final round at Bukit Tinggi Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia on Friday, according to a brief message received here.

The finals will be played from Sept 11 to 14.

The Punjab team comprises Vaqas Ahmed, Mohammad Safdar, Mohammad Rehman and Shahid Khan. There were 18 overseas and four teams from the host country competing and Pakistani players performed exceedingly well to notch up victory.

Even India was there in full strength and they had to be content with tenth position.
