DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 18: The district administration is facing problems due to shortage of suitable officers.

A tehsildar level officer of revenue department, Nasrullah Chadhar, has been heading three offices - he is performing duties as a registrar, a deputy district officer and a district officer.

Another officer is handling the affairs of Kacchi Canal and the price control committee.

Interestingly, Mr Chadhar is registering property and himself serving as an appellate authority as district officer.

Similarly, the political assistant to tribal is an important post. He has extra charge of five offices. He is performing his duties as a deputy revenue officer of tribal area, deputy revenue officer of Taunsa tehsil, commandant of Baloch levy, secretary of regional transport authority and district officer coordination. He is also a junior officer.

The situation is creating problems for the people as it delays every process.

Executive district officer Mrs Iram Quraishi was not available for comments.

It is worth mentioning that after the implementation of devolution plan, top bureaucrats preferred to join other departments than the district management.

One retired officer of the revenue department told Dawn on Friday that this unique situation in the department could pave the way for corruption.

He said the situation was suitable for land mafia. It should be stopped immediately and all registries and other affairs done during additional charges of a junior officer, should be rechecked.
