QUETTA, Aug 17: Nationalist leader Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri on Thursday condemned the military operation in Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts and said that as time progressed, the situation was worsening in these areas.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, a former provincial minister and the son of veteran nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, accused the security forces of accelerating their operation by deploying more troops and said that they were using jet fighters and gunship helicopters against the Baloch people who, according to him, were fighting for their national rights.
Criticising the international community and human rights organisations, he said that they had taken no notice of the security forces’ atrocities, as they killed the Baloch people and burned their houses.
He said that the situation in Balochistan was quite different from that in Lebanon, where the government and other countries were supporting Hezbollah against Israeli aggression.
Nawabzada Marri said that the time for peaceful struggle was over and now the Baloch people were waging an armed struggle after exhausting all other options. He urged the Baloch people to shun their differences and jointly struggle to regain their rights usurped by Islamabad.
