Two gangs busted

LAHORE, Aug 17: Investigation police (Cantt division) claimed on Thursday to have busted two gangs of robbers and arrested their six members recovering cash, cell phones and illegal weapons from their possession.

SP investigation Babar Bakhat Qureshi said ringleader Saleem, Naeem Shahzad, Naeem, Imran, Jamil and Adnan were wanted in 11 cases of robbery and dacoity, including a murder-cum-dacoity, registered against them with the Cantt division police. He said the ringleader was a labourer by profession before becoming a dacoit.

Six cell phones, as many pistols and Rs24,000 in cash were recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, the Sadar division police claimed to have arrested six members of two gangs of robbers and recovered valuables worth Rs300,000 and illegal weapons from them during the last week.

It also arrested five proclaimed offenders, 40 drug pushers and 24 people for keeping illegal weapons during the last one week.

Meanwhile, the Jauhar Town and Green Town police arrested two robbers and recovered 10 bicycles from them. They were identified as Ghulam Abbas and Khuda Bakhsh.

It also arrested a drug pusher, Chan Shah, and recovered two kilo hashish and opium from his possession. —Staff Reporter
