Exemption from property tax recovery

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Aug 17: On the directive by the Punjab chief minister, the recovery of property tax in Qila Dedar Singh and Ghakkhar Town has been stopped by the Excise and Taxation department.

Reports said that the Punjab chief minister had promised to exempt Qila Dedar Singh and Ghakkhar towns from the property tax during his visit in connection with the by-election campaign for the provincial assembly seat about a year back.

However, the excise and taxation department started recovering property tax as the government did not issue any notification regarding the exemption.

Ruling party MPA Nasir Cheema urged the Punjab chief minister to fulfil his promise as the people of both towns were showing resentment against the government while the general elections were also expected next year.

ARRESTED: Another human agent was arrested by an FIA raiding team after a brief encounter while a sub-inspector sustained injuries here on Thursday.

Faiz Rasul of Mandi Bahauddin was involved in sending illegally about 57 people to Greece who were deported recently.

During the encounter, SI Javed Sultan received injuries.
