IU announces BA results

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 17: Islamia University on Thursday announced the results of BA first annual examination, 2006.

According to a notification, out of 11,728 candidates appeared in the examination, 4,176 were declared successful showing a pass percentage of 35.59.

Syed Shahzad Madni (Roll No 13858) of Government T.T. College, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan district, clinched the first position by securing 659 marks. While Sidra Bashir (9925) and Humaira Tahir (9893) of the Government College for Women, Minchinabad, (Bahawalnagar) got second and third positions by obtaining 648 and 640 marks, respectively.

PROTEST: Scores of auto-rickshaw owners and drivers protested against the TMA decision to levy tax of Rs5 per round here on Thursday.

Protesters assembled outside the TMA office where they protested for hours against officials. They demanded that the tax should be withdrawn immediately.

They also protested against the contractor’s men who, they alleged, misbehaved and humiliated them.
