BADIN, Aug 16: Widespread rain coupled with storm lashed some districts of Sindh on Wednesday. Farmers said that farmlands were saturated and there was no place to drain out the rainwater.
They said that vegetable crop had been completely destroyed.
Badin recieved heavy rain for half an hour on Tuesday, followed by drizzle which continued the whole night.
The heavy rain again started on Wednesday at about 4pm and continued for half an hour.
Intermittent drizzling continuined till the filing of this report.
A large number of people rushed to safer places and took shelter on bunds and banks of drains and canals.
Roads linking to various villages including Serani, Bhugra Memon and Kadhan were also submerged.
SANGHAR: It rained here on Wednesday. There were reports of a considerable loss to cotton crop.
Sinjhoro, Jam Nawaz Ali and Sanghar talukas were the worst affected.
Some dehs in Khipro, Tando Adam and Shahdadpur talukas are also damaged.
The rain also damaged roads and sewerage systems in all towns.
MIRPURKHAS: Crops of cotton and chilli were adversely damaged in rain.
Many people were shifted to safer places after inundation of their villages.
Irrigation officials were monitoring water situation in Nara canal and its branches including Jamrao, Mithrao and Thar canals.
The rainwater had accumulated on roads and streets and in low-lying areas.
Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts were plunged into darkness when rain began.
People residing in villages of Digri, Kot Ghulam Mohammed, Mirpurkhas, Pithoro and Samaro taluka were shifted to safer places.
