27 ‘Taliban’ arrested

QUETTA, Aug 15: Twenty-seven Taliban suspects were arrested after a raid on a private hospital, here on Tuesday, police said. It is learnt acting on a tip off, police raided Al-Khair Hospital and arrested the 27 suspects.

“Ten of the suspects were found to be under treatment in the hospital,” Inspector General Police Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqub told Dawn.

“They are active Taliban fighters from Hilmand,” he said, adding that police had booked them under the Foreigners Act as they had no refugee status.

He said that the ICRC had referred the injured to the hospital. After arresting them they were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Quetta. They will be provided treatment on humanitarian grounds, the police chief said.
