KHAIRPUR, Aug 15: The Forest Department will plant as many as nine million trees in the province during current monsoon season of which 650,000 will be planted in forests of Sukkur, according to Sukkur region’s conservator of forests, Dr Ghulam Rasool Keerio.

He said that about 1.14 million trees would be planted in coordination with district governments, 360,000 trees would be planted in Khairpur’s forests, 360,000 in Sukkur, 320,000 in Naushahro Feroze and 100,000 in Ghotki.

Dr Keerio said that plants were made available in the nurseries of forest department which would be sold to farmers, police and education department at a rate of 50 paisa per plant.

INJURED: A man suffered serious injuries when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him over a land dispute in the Bachal Shahani village.

Reports reaching here said that two armed motorcyclists opened fire on Shahdad Shahani when he was standing near Dastagir gate, Ranipur.

Shahdad was rushed to People’s Medical College Hospital, Nawabshah in serious condition.
