KARACHI: Women inmates celebrate Aug 14

KARACHI, Aug 15: The Sindh Minister for Women Development, Dr Saeeda Malik, said that women had also made great sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. She was speaking at a function held at Women Jail Karachi to mark the 59th Independence Day of Pakistan. The function was held under the auspices of the Women Development Department.

The minister said that the female prisoners at the Central Jail Karachi were very much part of the population of the country and that she was happy that the inmates were celebrating the Independence Day with enthusiasm.

The inmates had decorated the Women's Prison with buntings and national flags. The minister recited the national anthem and national songs with the women prisoners and also performed the flag-hoisting ritual.

She also distributed clothes among the women prisoners and sweets and gifts to their children.—APP
