ISLAMABAD Aug 13: Prime Minister of Lebanon Fouad Siniora on Sunday contacted Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on telephone and briefed him on the latest situation on ceasefire which will take effect from Monday morning.
According to official sources, Mr Aziz reassured his Lebanese counterpart that Pakistan stood by the Lebanese people in the difficult time and desired to see an early end to Israeli hostilities.
The Lebanese prime minister thanked Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz for the consistent support of Pakistan. He said the president, the prime minister and the people of Pakistan had provided invaluable support to the people and government of Lebanon which would be remembered for all times to come.
MEETS BALOCH SARDARS: Meanwhile, the prime minister has appreciated the contribution made the tribal leaders of Balochistan in implementation of development projects and establishment of the writ of the government in the province.
He was addressing a delegation of Baloch Sardars who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Sunday. The PM commended Baloch notables for their support for development and resolve to fight against anti development forces.
The PM said development of dams, Gwadar port, network of roads and mineral resources would change the face of Balochistan.
He said the government had started an ambitious programme to impart skills to the youth in all provinces so that they were ready and available to do jobs requiring technical skills. He said the law and order situation in Balochistan was gradually improving.
He said that only the PML could bring unity and stability in the country.
The tribal chiefs assured the PM of their all out support in exposing anti progress elements and helping the government in maintaining its writ throughout the province.
They said the impression created by a section of press that Baloch Sardars were against development was totally baseless.
Over 90 per cent Sardars supported the policies of the government and wanted to promote peace, prosperity and progress.
