Promotion of external trade

KARACHI, Aug 12: Ports and Shipping Secretary Zia-ur-Rehman has stressed upon the need for streamlining the procedures for external trade at all ports by introducing automation and modern technology to ensure fast movement of goods.

Presiding over a meeting of all the stakeholders in ports and shipping sector here on Saturday, the secretary said there was greater need for reducing manual processing of external trade to ensure rapid movement of import and export goods. He said efforts should be made to simplify port procedures and reduce documentation.
