TANK, Aug 11: A tripartite commission comprising Pakistan, Afghanistan and US military officials held a flag meeting in Angoor Adda in South Waziristan on Friday and discussed cross-border movement of militants in the area, officials said.
During the meeting, held at a border check-post, the military officials from the three countries discussed various issues, including the infiltration of militants from the South Waziristan Agency into Afghanistan.
A source said that US and Afghan officials informed their Pakistani counterparts about the miscreants cross-border movement under the garb of shepherds.
The meeting also discussed the whereabouts of wanted militant commander Nazeer, whose name was also on the list given to Pakistani authorities by President Hamid Karzai during his recent visit to Islamabad.
Militant Commander Nazeer, the source said, was a close aide of former Afghan prime minister Gulbadin Hekmatyar.
The source said that Pakistani officials complained about the landing of Afghan artillery shells in the tribal territory and informed that such incidents must be prevented.
ROCKET ATTACK: Some unknown miscreants fired 15 rockets at a check-post of the army in South Waziristan but they failed to cause any casualties.
The political administration had served notices on the Khojalkhel Wazir tribe to locate and produce the actual culprits.
