80 Rojhan villages flooded

RAJANPUR, Aug 11: Around 80 villages in Rojhan were flooded while standing cotton crop on thousands of acres was inundated after an embankment at Sabzani was swept away on Friday.

Despite efforts by the army personnel and the area people, the embankment could not be saved from destroying. The army with the help of boats has started evacuating the people while hundreds of them are still stranded there.

District Nazim Raza Dreshak and the DCO have alerted the administration as the river has raised several metre in Rojhan area. Directions have also been given for the protection of all embankments.

Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Sardar Shaukat Hussain Mazari said that Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi would soon visit the flood-effected areas in Rojhan.
