By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 11: Naeem Amir, a prisoner at the new central jail, is among the position holders of the matriculation annual examination of 2006.

Naeem has shared second position with another candidate by scoring 810 in the humanities group. One of his teachers collected the medal and cash prize awarded to the boy at a prestigious ceremony organised by the Bahawalpur Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

According to jail officials, Naeem (a resident of Haroonabad) was sentenced to 14-year imprisonment under section 302 of PPC. He has already served a decade behind bars during which he passed his middle examination and now has won distinction in the matriculation exam.
