KARACHI, Aug 11: Working procedures of the newly created Criminal Prosecution Department, its administrative and financial matters, arrangements for offices and various aspects of its working relationship with the departments of home, law and police came under consideration at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman here on Friday.
Acting Prosecutor General and Secretary of the Prosecution Department Mohammed Ishaq Lashari presented a report based on the department’s requirements.
The meeting was attended by PPO Jehangir Mirza, Secretary Law Ghulam Nabi Shah, Secretary Implementation Nazar Hussain Maher, Secretary Finance Malik Israr Hussain, Secretary General Administration Abdul Qadir Mangi, Secretary Services Shah Mansooor Alam and other senior officials.
It was decided that till the start of the department’s formal functioning, the officials attached with the Prosecution Services from the home, law and police departments would be subservient to prosecutor general.
It was decided that the summary for recruitment of the required staff on contract and the package to be offered to them would be sent to the competent authorities for approval.
The meeting decided that the related record of the anti-terrorist courts, district/deputy attorneys of the law department and police prosecution branch would be placed with the new prosecution department while the posting of officials and staff in districts would be done as per requirement.
Secretaries of the law, finance and prosecution departments were entrusted with the responsibility of working out the strategy and submit the same to chief secretary for approval at the higher level.—APP
