QUETTA: Teachers protest

Published August 12, 2006

QUETTA, Aug 11: Balochistan Professors & Lecturers Association (BPLA) staged a demonstration against the non-acceptance of their demands, outside the press club here on Thursday.

However, when the protesting teachers, led by BPLA President Prof Siraj Ahmed Kakar, attempted to proceed to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to present a charter of demands, they were stopped by the police personnel posted there.

The demands of the teachers include pending promotion cases, the condition of GRE for M Phil and PhD in Balochistan, non-issuance of NOC to teachers in Quetta to carry out research work as part of M Phil and PhD studies, etc.

Teachers in all colleges of the province also boycotted classes as mark of protest.

ANTI-ISRAEL PROTEST: Activists of PPP-Parliamentarian and Jafari Alliance staged separate demonstrations in front of Quetta Press Club against the brutal Israeli action on Lebanon.
