BADIN: Water level in LBOD increased: Heavy rain in southern Sindh

BADIN, Aug 11: Heavy rain lashed the district on Thursday increasing the level of water in the Left Bank Outfall Drain.
LBOD’s executive engineers Zulfiqar Nizamani and Qasim Soomro said that about 3,000 cusec flow of deluge was passing through the district.
They said that they were keeping watch on vulnerable points of the LBOD and the entire staff was on high alert.
They said that the situation was under control.
A moderate windstorm followed by the downpour hit the district and its towns on Thursday evening.
It continued for half an hour followed by intermittent drizzling till 11pm.
Again the district received showers at 8:30am on Friday that continued intermittently till the filing of this report.
HYDERABAD: It rained here on Friday and rainwater accumulated on main roads and streets.
Low-lying areas and loca-
lities remained submerged under the rainwater.
MIRPURKHAS: Various parts of Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts received heavy rains accompanied by windstorm on Thursday and Friday.
The rainwater accumulated on roads and streets.
It also resulted in inundation of low-lying areas with knee-deep water.
The power supply was disconnected as 11kv line was broken near the Mirpurkhas grid station.
The water supply to cities and towns were disrupted due to power outage.
In some areas water entered houses.
Two power transformers got busted on the M.A. Jinnah road and Walkart area.
Markets and bazaars remained closed.
Cotton and other crops were submerged under rainwater.
THATTA: Sujawal, Mirpur Bathoro, Daro, Bannu and Laiqpur areas of the district received a moderate rain on Friday.
The rain which started about 6:45pm continued till the filing of the report.
The electric supply was suspended to the area with the first drop of water.
SANGHAR: The Rain with thunderstorm hit the district on the second consecutive day on Friday.
High tension transmission line at Haji Shah and Chotiyarioon fell due to storm and hundreds of villages were without power.
The rain badly affected cotton, vegetable crops and nurseries of onion, chilli and other crops.
NAWABSHAH: Nawabshah, Sakrand, Qazi Ahmed, Daur and Bandhi areas received rain on Friday.
The rain multiplied miseries of the people as water accumulated on roads and low-lying areas.
Electricity remained discontinued in different areas of city and adjoining areas.
There was no electricity in many parts of the city till the filing of this report.
