ISLAMABAD Aug 10: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that by holding intra-party polls, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has emerged as a political party which is following true democratic traditions and norms.
He was talking to a group of parliamentarians who called on him in his chamber at the Parliament House on Thursday.
PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed, Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Ameer Hussain, Nasrullah Dreshak, ministers Muhammad Ali Durrani, Tariq Azeem, Naseer Khan, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, and Dr Sher Afghan Khan Niazi as well as MNAs Rehman Naseer Sardar Faiz Tamman, Ahmed Warraich, Akbar Vaince and Rana Tariq attended the meeting.
On the occasion, issues like party elections, political situation in the country and the parliamentary calendar came under discussion.
“The PML leadership believes in observing democratic norms and is striving to strengthen democracy and political culture in the country,” said Prime Minister Aziz. “All elements contributing to the development of democratic culture in the country are gaining strength. This, coupled with consistency and continuity of policies, augers well for country’s future,” he added.
While discussing the parliamentary calendar, he informed the party parliamentarian about the legislative business being followed through the parliament.
In his meeting with another delegation of MNAs, the prime minister said that after achieving macroeconomic stability and high growth, the government was focusing on passing on the benefits of the growth to the grassroots level so as to bring improvement in the life standard of the masses.
The delegation included Minister for Food and Agriculture Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan and MNAs Aftab Khan Khichi, Amir Yar Malik and Junaid Mumtaz Joya.
