SUKKUR, Aug 10: The district administration has warned people living in Bunder Wall area who face direct threat from the expected incoming floods to evacuate latest by 6.00 pm on August 11 to avoid any loss of life and property.
DCO Shafique Ahmed Khoso said while speaking at a meeting which was called to review flood arrangements at his office on Thursday that the district had set up relief camps to lodge the expected evacuees from at least 800 houses in Bunder Wall.
He directed the irrigation officials to pass on the latest communication about floods to the residents of katcha areas and suggested involving influential people of the area to persuade people to move to safer places.
Col Abid of Pano Akil Cantonment who was also present at the meeting assured the district of his full support in the evacuation process.
Sukkur Barrage chief engineer Agha Aijaz Ahmed briefed the meeting on the latest flood situation, strategies, essential requirements and the process of serving notices on the residents of katcha areas warning them to evacuate to safe places.
