KARACHI, Aug 10: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the Port where seven ships scheduled to load and offload containers, chemicals, edible oil, furnace oil, iron ore and LPG were berthed, said a PQA press release here on Thursday.

A total of nine ships, Mumbai Express, Acx Mimosa, Adrekni, Precious, Constantinos-G, Stolt Avenir-9, Arietes, Navigator Pluto, Green Park and Turn Berry Glory, are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, sugar, edible oil, furnace oil, LPG and iron ore.

A record cargo volume of 0.104 million tons comprising 0.080 million tons imports and 0.024 million tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carrying out 2,547 containers (TEUs) was handled during the last 24 hours.

Three ships, Xiang Wan, Acx Mimosa and Yong Xiang-9, sailed out, while Al-Wajba, Multan, Warbah and Bright Kosan are currently at the outer anchorage.

Two ships, Mumbai Express and Navigator Pluto, are expected to sail on Thursday. Al-Wajba and Anette Kosan are expected to take berths on Thursday. Container vessel Ibn Sina is due to arrive at the port on Thursday, while four more ships, MSC Germany, Nedlloyd Muscat, Dixie Monarach and Liquid Success, with containers, coke and chemicals are due to arrive on Friday.
