MULTAN, Aug 9: Convicted in a murder case, an alleged militant of the outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi was hanged here on Wednesday morning at the central jail.
Hafiz Shafiqur Rehman was convicted on October 11, 1999, by the ATC in Sargodha in the murder case of a Shai leader of Bhakar, Ijaz Ali Shah. Ijaz was a former district chief of Tehrik-i-Jaffria, Pakistan, which is also a banned sectarian outfit.
The convict had appealed against the verdict first to the LHC and then to the Supreme Court, but both the courts upheld the decision.
