KARACHI, Aug 9: Senior cricket administrator Prof Sirajul Islam Bukhari has been elected unopposed as Karachi City Cricket Association’s secretary for another three-year term following the Pakistan Cricket Board-conducted elections on Wednesday.

Besides Bukhari, who has been holding the key post since 1983, renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Mohammad Ali Shah has replaced Munir Hussain as the KCCA president. Dr Shah was also unanimously elected according to the results announced by Javed Zaman Khan, the PCB election commissioner.

Mehdi Hasan, who held the post of honorary assistant secretary in the past, was elected honorary treasurer in place of Syed Noorul Harmain who died some time back.

Most of the office-bearers in the seven KCCA zones were earlier re-elected unopposed on Tuesday. The only exception was Musarrat Raza, who secured 25 votes to become secretary of Zone-IV. His opponent Amjad Hussain received garnered seven votes.

Javed Zaman said the election was held in a peaceful atmosphere.

KCCA office-bearers for the next term:

Dr Mohammad Ali Shah (president); Prof Sirajul Islam Bukhari (honorary secretary); Mehdi Hasan (honorary treasurer).

Zone-I: Mohammad Umar Siddiqui (chairman); Aftab Ahmed (secretary); Shahid Rasheed (treasurer).

Zone-II: Ijaz Farooqui (chairman); Jamil Ahmed (secretary); Afzal Sherry (treasurer).

Zone-III: Raziq H. Rabbani (chairman); Abdul Hameed Khatri (secretary); Afzal Qureshi (treasurer).

Zone-IV: S.M. Adil (chairman); Musarrat Raza (secretary); Atiq Siddiqui (treasurer).

Zone-V: Khalid Nafees (chairman); Shahzad Alam (secretary); Iftikhar Zaman (treasurer).

Zone-VI: Akram Khan (chairman); Azam Khan (secretary); Salim (treasurer)

Zone-VII: Ghulam Waris (chairman); S.A. Fahim (secretary); Mirza Wasim Baig (treasurer).
